Rurouni Taikai Solid
From TaikaiWiki
Rurouni Taikai Solid: Another Damn Tournament was a side tournament held from October 19, 2002, to October 28, 2002, on the Random Insanity forums. Hosted by Onyx and Crusader, Rurouni Taikai Solid was a humourous tournament in which Hideo Kojima recruited characters from any video game that was released in North America and had them search for his pants, which had been stolen by his brother, Tetsuya Takahashi. Hideo was also helped by two beings known as Onyx and Crusader, gods within The Omniverse and second only to the great MacBauer. The plot behind the theft of Hideo's pants was eventually revealed to have been masterminded by Hideaki Anno, who was defeated by the winner of the tournament, Dry's Rugal Bernstein.

Battle System
Rurouni Taikai Solid featured a job system based on the class system of the Massive Multiplayer Online RPG (MMORPG) Final Fantasy XI. At the beginning, sponsors had a choice of six basic jobs: Warrior, Monk, White Mage, Black Mage, Red Mage, and Thief. Once they reached Level 2, they had a choice of a subjob of the six basic jobs to compliment their main job. At Level 3, they could choose an advanced job as their new main job. These advanced jobs were Paladin, Dark Knight, Ranger, Samurai, Ninja, and Dragoon. At Level 4, they could use Level 2 abilities of their subjobs, but no one ever reached this level.

Roster
Rurouni Taikai Solid allowed participants to sponsor defined characters from any video game that had been released in North America (or games that were part of a series that had a game released in North America in them), provided that character did not violate the Divinity Ban and was not in poor taste. Sidekicks were initially allowed; however, all sidekicks were promoted to sponsors at the start of the tournament due to low turnout. A variation of fluffy sidekicks known as assists were allowed.
